چکیده
It has been shown that 4-desoxypyridoxine (1, 2), incites seizures (3) and vita min B6-deficient states (3-6) in animals, but INAH (1) also has the property of inducing running fits (7, 8, 9) and vitamin B6 deficiency (10-13) and of inhibiting the enzymes related to vitamin B6 (14-20). The results of Makino and Aramaki (21-25), Kooka (26) and Miyake (27) show that 2-methyl-4-amino5-hydroxymethyl-pyrimidine (OMP) is related to vitamin B6 and Mandokoro

INVESTIGATION ON ANTI-GLUTAMIC ACID DECARBOXYLASE ANTIBODIES IN TYPE I DIABE TES MELLITUS
Antibodies directed against the enzyme glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) are believed to be the main cause of destruction of pancreatic islet cells in type I (insulin dependent) diabetes mellitus. The enzyme was found both in the brain and pancreatic beta cells. Although similarities in identity of GAD in human and rat brain have been demonstrated, little is known about the interaction betw...
متن کاملInfluence of dietary pyridoxine on glutamic decarboxylase activity of brain.
y-Aminobutyric acid is present in the free form in large amounts in brain (l-3), where it is formed from glutamic acid by a L-glutamic acid decarboxylase (2, 4, 5). The enzyme requires pyridoxal phosphate as coenzyme (5), which can be synthesized in brain from adenosinetriphosphate and pyridoxal (6). This decarboxylase has a high degree of substrate and coenzyme specificity (6). The concentrati...
متن کاملSignificant Changes in the Activity of L-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase of Mouse Hypothalamus After Peripheral Injection of Cholecystokinin-8 and Caerulein
The activity of one of the metabolizing enzymes of - aminobutyric acid, (GABA), was determined in mouse hypothalamus after peripheral injections of cholecystokinin-8 (CCK-8) and caerulein (CLN). The activity of this rate-limiting enzyme, L-glutamic acid decarboxylase, (GAD), did not change thirty minutes after peripheral injections of either CCK-8 or CLN in doses of 50g/kg body weight. Howeve...
متن کاملVigabatrin and tiagabine are pharmacologically different drugs. A pre-clinical study
In light of theirclosely related mechanisms of action, and preliminary clinical evidence suggesting that they possess similar efficacies, it has been anecdotally suggested that vigabatrin and tiagabine may prove to be therapeutically indistinguishable. As a result, we have conducted a preclinical comparison of their anticonvulsant profile and mechanism of action. Pentylenetetrazol and maximal e...
متن کاملElevation of y=Aminobutyric Acid in Brain: Selective Inhibition of y-Aminobutyric-a-ketoglutaric Acid Transaminase*
The quantitative measurement of amino acids in different areas of the central nervous system has shown that a progressive increase takes place in levels of y-aminobutyric acid during development (2, 3), and that the concentration of this amino acid in adult brain is relatively constant under a variety of physiological stresses. y-Aminobutyric acid is synthesized by glutamic acid decarboxylase, ...
